under the sea

thanks to an awesome tour booking agent and some good judgment on our behalf (rule #1, ALWAYS book with a non-female agent. Best is with an older, grandpa-like man, or a lady-boy), we had a fantastically cheap getaway to the phi phi islands. it's almost ridiculous to think of how inexpensive this all was after the conversion - anywhere else, the price we paid would barely even cover transfer from hotel to the marina, let alone a cruise to several islands, snorkelling gear, lunch and snacks, and return transfer. if i haven't said it already, thailand is spoiling us. i don't think it is possible anywhere else (well, maybe some other asian island places nearby. maybe) to have such a luxurious vacation on such little cash. i didn't think it was possible, but i think it's gonna make me even cheaper once i get back home.

anyway, with this stroke of luck, we ended up at phi phi and i finally got to snorkle!!! this meant i got to try out my underwater pack that allowed me to take pictures with my digicam without having to spend ridic amounts on an apparatus.
let's take a look.

Feeding time

I'm gonna call this a needle fish

I called this one the hip fish. Look at those cool colours!

pretty neat eh?

at the end of our tour, on the way home, the guides decided to dress up as ladyboys. we discovered this upon waking up from our naps. needless to say, it was an odd awakening, but i assume it was par for the course in thailand, and nonetheless a cultural experience.

to make things even better, on the way home, we spotted a row of carts selling cheap foods right behind the mall where we watched couples retreat (yeah, we watched a movie on vaycay. whatevskies). and we hit it up and it was deliciously cheap.

and on top of that, keya forced me to indulge in sundaes with her even though we ate a ridic amount already.

hurts so good.
